Bally released the Astrocade in 1978, a cartridge console with graphics ahead of many rivals and a built-in BASIC that drew a keen home-coding scene.
Its games included arcade ports like Gorf and Astro Battle, plus a stream of type-in and user-written programs.
MAME and other emulators run the Astrocade library on modern systems.
