Philips launched the CD-i in 1991 as a multimedia player for the living room, playing games, education discs and film.
Its games are now best known for the licensed Zelda titles and Hotel Mario that Nintendo let Philips make, alongside many full-motion-video and edutainment discs.
MAME and other emulators run a growing share of the CD-i library on modern systems.
