NEC’s PC-9801 line, launched in 1982, was the leading Japanese PC standard for over a decade, with high-resolution text and graphics suited to detailed games.
The platform held a vast catalogue of role-playing games, strategy, adventure and visual novels, including the earliest Touhou Project titles.
Neko Project II and other emulators run PC-98 disks on modern systems.
