Bandai released the Playdia in 1994 in Japan as a low-cost CD console for children, controlled by a simple wireless pad.
Its discs were mostly interactive anime, quizzes and educational titles tied to franchises like Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball, with little in the way of action games.
The Playdia stayed in Japan and remains a collector’s curiosity.
