VNDS let the Nintendo DS play visual novels by reading converted scripts, images and audio from the memory card, outside official channels.
Players used it for fan translations and freeware novels, taking advantage of the DS touchscreen for a genre built around reading and choices.
VNDS content runs on DS hardware and under DS emulators.
