Bandai launched the WonderSwan in 1999 in Japan, designed by Gunpei Yokoi, the maker of the Game Boy. It ran a long time on one battery and could be held sideways for some games.
Its all-Japanese library included Gunpey, a puzzle game from Yokoi himself, along with action and role-playing titles.
Mednafen and other emulators run the WonderSwan library on modern systems.
