I spent the $1 and downloaded the game from https://warehouse23.com/. I unzipped the package and proceeded to attempt to play on Windows 10. It was unplayable.

The readme.txt notes: Note that this is an archival release; although it should be playable, it will likely be quite buggy.

It was indeed "quite buggy", so much in fact it was not playable. In the arena on amateur night, my Machine Guns did not damage opponents at all, not a single opponent could be destroyed. The game did start out with $30,000, so I decided to build a vehicle with exceptional armor and a laser to see if that would have a different experience. During assembly, several properties were not calculated or updated when selected changes to chassis or suspension or power plant. The aforementioned laser-equipped vehicle couldn't destroy any enemy cars whatsoever, the arena bug appears to be 0 damage by player weapons. My sadness isn't the wasted $1, but the wasted 1 hour trying to get this incomplete build to work.

For future reference, as of this date, the game appears to be available from SJG for $1 from this page: http://www.warehouse23.com/products/SJG1186

Autoduel is no longer abandoned, as mentioned here https://www.sjgames.com/ill/archive/November_14_2019/Autoduel_Computer_Game_To_Reappear_ and here http://www.sjgames.com/ill/archive/October_18_2018/Wanted_Autoduel_Source_Code where they mention "The folks at Electronic Arts are so awesome that they have reverted rights to that game, but they had no copies of the source." Thus SJG now owns Autoduel again.

The game is NOT, no longer (if it was ever for sale recently I was too late to see it), for sale anywhere I could find it.

But Origin was purchased by EA in 1992. Though that doesnt mean the Auto Duel IP went with it. The Auto Duel Wiki mentions Steve Jackson requesting the source code in 2018 so it could be updated to work on modern systems but is not currently for sale.

Sadly there is no way to buy it, Steve Jackson Games asked for the removal of the downloads. Let's hope it will become available.

The game is still, in fact, abandonware. The site you referenced is simply the paper and pencil version of the game which was created by Steve Jackson games. The computer game itself is not available there or anywhere else. It is not owned by SJGames anyway. Origin systems had the rights to the game and they are not selling it due to the fact that they went defunct many years ago. While there are whispers of the game being resurrected in a modern version, there is no movement 5 years after the whispers started. And, frankly it would have nothing to do with this DOS/other versions as the company that made this is now gone.

If you truly believe that someone is selling it, please let us know where, in case we want to buy it. (ps you won't find it)

Cool to see some completed it.
I had this in on the C64 and when it came time to swap disks the second would never load right and crash the game. But I would still play it up to that point. I also played the RPG “Car Wars” this was created from and had many of the manuals for car configs.

You say this game is no longer Abandonware, but it is NOT available from either GOG or Steam. It is not sold by Origin either. =\

Are you Positive it is "No Longer Abandonware" ?

Hi there,
I downloaded Autoduel but I cannot get it to start. I get the error that my system is 64x and this version won't work on it (It's 32x compatible, I guess). Do you have a version that will? I have Windows 7 as my operating system.
Or am I downloading it wrong?
Any help would be appreciated.
Please contact me at hyotis@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Harry
