Best of the Best Championship Karate

DOS - 1992
Also available on: Amiga - Amstrad CPC - Genesis

Best of the Best is an excellent but little-known sequel to Futura’s outstanding Panza Kick Boxing. It was curiously released with the subtitle “Championship Karate” in some countries, despite the fact that the game is still about kick boxing.

Although Best of the Best looks identical to its predecessor, it features better graphics and several new options such as street fighting. The boxers also move more smoothly than in Panza, and there are more opponents for you to spar with. The training gym is still included for you to practice as much as you want before the match.

Overall, it’s a great sequel that features more of all the good things about the previous game—something not very common nowadays. Highly recommended to aspiring pugilists everywhere ;)

My little bother had this on Super nintendo because he was a fighting game junkie (not my kind of games) but back then I was blown away by it because of the 3d animations and like a 100 different moves that you could select for your fighter and customize their layout. There was no other game back then at the time that was customizable like that. The animations of the kicks and punches were also super detailed for the time. still an amazing game today and should be in any fighting game fans collection.

The copy protection crack on the DOS version doesn't seem to work? Looks like KICK.COM is the file to run, not KICK.EXE, however, when starting a match, it keeps asking for age and nationality, which I assume is the copy protection.
