Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters

DOS - 1990

A fun action game with a zany sci-fi plot that recalls 40's "B" campy sci-fi flicks, this game from Tangen has a huge dose of action interspersed with colorful comic-book style cutscenes and animations.

The plot is a familiar fare for most gamers: you and your pal Duke (not Nukem) are members of an interplanetary SWAT team assigned to rescue scientists from Planet X, which has been invaded by the evil Reptilons who are turning their hostages into mindless Robo-Zombies which they plan to use as army to destroy the earth (whew).

Gameplay is simple: shoot all the aliens you see and rescue the hostages. Mindless, yes, but the colorful animations and hordes of aliens will keep trigger-happy gamers --well-- happy for a while.

In DOS the KBD.KBD file can be edited with a hex editor to change the keymapping. Here's my file which changes fire and bombs to ctrl and alt. Esc to quit, shift to pause. Player 2 to WASD:

Controls for keyboard
Using DosBox unmapped keys:
Jake:
I guess arrow keys(or number pad) to move
[ (left bracket) = shoot/start game
Hold [ (left bracket) = crouch and shoot...to kill the little rc car looking things
] (right bracket) = drop bomb
Duke:
A = Left
D = Right
W= Up
X = Down
F = shoot/start game
Hold F to crouch and shoot
B = drop bomb

Is this game meant to be played with 2 people with small hands?
Pretty tough to play using Duke with keyboard

Anyone care to say what the controls are?

I can't even get the game to run, it just cycles from the demo to the intro and back again.

I read that these are the controls:
Q = move forward
A & S = shoot and drop bombs
Z & X = turn left and right

If I could get into the game I'd try them out!

Luckily I have a joystick so I didn't have to worry about dumb key setups; fairly fun game though it's way too easy to get mobbed by a dozen dudes and die in seconds.

Same as everyone else, controls are crap.

Anyone know what the dos keys are for this? I can find an instruction manual for this online anywhere

@Lord_Xarti: When a DOS game doesn't let you rebind the keys, that's what DOSBox's keymapper or a joystick-to-keyboard mapper like Antimicro are for.

Avoid this game at all costs! Controls are utter crap on keyboard with no way to customize. Truly terrible treatment of an otherwise great game.
