Street life simulator, best described by Mobygames : "Rags to Riches may be called a "bum simulator", in that it lets you live life as a bum trying not to starve on the streets of a modern city. You start your week with barely any money and nothing to eat, and then you'll try to work your way to the top by getting a job (and maybe, cutting your hair and beard to get a decent one), selling empty bottles and trying not too drink too much in the process."

This game was so hard. I spent tons of hours at it as a kid. Never claim close to beating it. The IRS was to OP. I think this game is harder than any game made today.
A few years ago, after decades spent hunting forums and every social network, I found the original developer, Bob Keener. He released an interview and if you search for it, you will find it easily. The interview discloses why there is no ending, among a ton of other precious details!
Fun game , so many hour put into this game jut to get that million . I know that once you invest at least 10,000 you wont automatically get your investment back. you have to at least try it to understand the difficulty of this .
Actually this game was one of the most original and engaging I ever played on the c64. I still enjoy it to this day only wishing there was a better ending. Sometimes I consider getting back into programming just to try to make a Sequel. Really really fun and frustrating and ahead of its time. I think my need to stock up on everything came from this game along with my feelings for the IRS.
From my Lemon64.com Review:
How anyone ever came up with the premise for Rags to Riches during the prehistoric C64 gaming era is beyond me. This title stands out because it is simply the most original game I have ever played. The usual collection of space aliens, fast cars, ninjas, warlocks and helicopters are replaced by a pathetic drunken tramp wandering the city streets in search of a better life.
Removed it, thanks
That review is for another game. Probably the DOS game with the same name.
