This seems to work perfectly fine under ScummVM now if anyone is struggling with compatibility in 2022/2023. However afaik Shiver's 2 does *not* work under ScummVM, fingers crossed that it gets there someday though.

Hey guys! For anyone interested in playing Shivers 1 on Windows, visit Mnuemonic Games's Facebook page. They have a "demo" of the game that works wonderfully on modern Windows (and also Android), even my Windows 10. However, it does start from the office, and it won't have the movie clips throughout. If you want the full game and still have the original disc for it, you can replace three files in the demo with the CD's version: resmap.000, ressci.000, resource.sfx. Don't forget to copy and paste the movie folder with all of the clips into the demo's folder, too! After that, it starts you from the very beginning. So far, I've gotten to the tunnels behind the library, and everything works flawlessly.
Best thing is that it's all totally free. You just need to make sure you copy and replace those important files.

couldn't get Shivers to play on d-fend reloaded. When I tried to load as a dos game it said it would only run on windows, and when i tried to load as a windows game it said it would only run on DOS.

I miss this and would love for this game to be available in the modern age. Without having to buy and install a secondary OS on my dainty laptop. Please let me know when it becomes available!!!!

The game actually does support DOS. I just tried installing it from the original disk and on XP the compatibility test says I should try running the DOS version of the game. I'm assuming it's MS-DOS. Anyway Windows 95 should run the game just fine. There are torrents of this game that come with DOSBOX preconfigured to run this software.

I know can run Windows 3.1 via Dosbox, maybe you could get a copy of Win 9x and do that also?

It wasn't for Dos. I remember running it on 98 so maybe it needed 95? I think I also ran it in xp but I think I needed a patch

This game is pretty awesome, I was addicted to it back in high school. For some reason though I can't get it to run now. It doesn't want to run in Windows 8.1 and so I downloaded DosBox, but it won't run in Dos either, it says it requires windows. Rock and a hard place I guess, but great memories anyway.

I love this game. I remember back when I was younger and my older sister, my brother and myself all crammed around the computer screen to figure out the puzzles and getting scared like all little kids do by the creepy and sudden scares to pop up on screen.
