  • Export saves: export the savegame files from your browser, so you can switch to another browser or computer. You can also use them in an emulator installed on your computer.
  • Import saves: import savegames that you exported before with the Export saves button.
  • Download disk: export the whole game from your browser, with all your savegames. Useful to switch to an emulator installed on your computer.
  • Reset game files: if you somehow messed up the game files, you can reset them to an exact copy of the original.
  • Reset saves: delete all savegames from your browser. We recommend that you export them first: there is no turning back!
Import saves?

The saves in the zip file replace your saves that have the same name. If the game runs, it starts again.

Reset game files?

This puts back all the files that the game came with, also the files that you deleted or changed. Files that the game made, such as saves, stay. If the game keeps a save in one of its own files, that save is lost. If the game runs, it starts again.

Delete your saves?

This deletes all your saves and all your changes to this game. You cannot undo this. To keep a copy, export your saves first. If the game runs, it starts again.

I loved playing this game on our Mac back when I was a teen in the early nineties. Back then you had to switch between a couple disks during game play. Raildude's instructions for laying track work great for me playing with the browser on my hp computer. If I load the game with the number lock on, I can't lay track. It I start with the number lock off, and press it after the game loads, I can lay track by just using my number keypad. Laying double track is easy, just press shift and D. The sounds that comes out of my computer are distorted, nothing like the original sounds I can still hear in my mind.

Is there a way to lay down double track?

To build tracks you need to have your your Numlock OFF, then click START at the top, press options 1-2-1 for graphics, sound and keyboard+mouse. Start a new game. When you want to build click F4 to go to detail view, Numlock ON, place the cursor where you want to build the track and use numeric keypad to build the track in the direction you want.
*** Do not press Shift+keypad numbers ***

I can't build a track ? it's easy,
Enter the game, enter the map, and press the esc key to jump back to windows.
Press the ctrl key + the shift key twice to confirm entering the language conversion mode (I use Chinese phonetic notation)
Press Numlock to change to numeric mode first
Return to the map, press Numlock again, and use the nine-square numbers on the right to build rail tracks

Run it in DOSBox. Everything works there. Download the preinstalled version. DOSBox is a bit of work, but if you read the help and info screens, you can do it. GL and enjoy this wonderful old game. I spent many happy hours with this back when. None of the later versions comes close IMO.

I loved this game in the past. Can't build track!!!! Why make an unusable game "accessible". Is anyone actually able to play this?

I really loved this game (in the long past) and have tried most everything. But track building (even on tutorial) just doesn't seem to work. I don't know if the "space" key isn't recognized any more. No other combination of keys and directions seems to make it work. The rest seems fine (ok, no idea how building trains, stations, signal towers, consists etc are) but....... this is a link to the "technical manual" from the old game.
Seems legit site without viruses. https://ia601004.us.archive.org/4/items/railroadtycoonmanual/RailroadTycoon-TechnicalSupplement.pdf
