The release dates are incorrect. The game was released in Japan on February 1997, then US in March 14 1997 and then the UK/EU 6 days prior to 1997.

Wouldn't this theoretically fall under "not abandonware" seeing as the Sonic 3&K is included in Sonic Origins and you also dont provide different versions of other games if another version is available for purchase?

My childhood and the absolute magnus opus of my video game collection.
I have the original 1997 release still factory sealed in the large hard paper box in good condition. I also have another 1997 copy that's also brand new but only in the original jewel case and unsealed by me to have as a pristine archive copy for physical observation.
And then I also have 2 copies of the Expert Software release from 2000, with one being my original I had as a kid that I played and the other a like-new copy I found at a thrift store for a dollar.
I'm glad I can say I have my holy grail in my own collection. A classic the likes of which may never see again, let alone in an official physical format.

When I was a kid, this is how I was introduced to Sonic 3 and I will always be grateful for it. The FM Synthesized version of the MIDI music is second to none and the PC port is top-notch.
