Super Solvers Mission: T.H.I.N.K.

Windows - 1999
Also available on: Mac - Windows 3.x

The last and arguably best game in The Learning Company's outstanding "Super Solvers," Mission T.H.I.N.K. teaches a wide range of skills while making the graphics and gameplay even more attractive.

The evil mastermind Mory Maxwell, obviously not tired of losing to Super Solvers over and over again, has returned to Shady Glen. From the box' blurb: "This time, he and his Metal Minions have taken over the Game Factory and are challenging all Super Solvers fans to a duel of wits. Equipped with hundreds of mind-bending puzzles, games and mazes, Morty’s ready to take on the next generation of Super Solvers!"

In contrast to earlier Super Solvers games focuses on helping kids develop skills only in one area (e.g. algebra, math, and so on), Mission T.H.I.N.K. is much more of an integrated learning experience for kids ages 8 and up, as it encompasses science, math, and other subjects. The game is packed with hundreds of mind-boggling puzzles and mazes, plus a five-level strategy game that will take a while to finish. Kids will have a great time as they navigate through the factory's warehouse, collecting game pieces and solving 5 different types of puzzles.

There are several mini-games, all of which are very enjoyable: in Viewpoints, kids work with 2-D drawings of 3-D objects. In Auto Logic (the best mini-game), kids build cars that meet the requirements by using logic and the use of "and, or, and no" statements. Plan-a-Path requires mental mapping and planning to get a ball into the hole. Rush Order teaches spatial recognition at customizable speeds. And finally, InVENNtory Alert has children sorting toys into Venn Diagrams. There are over 200 puzzles in all, and they automatically get more challenging as kids progress through the levels. Due to the impressive range of subjects the game covers, the number of skills kids will develop is staggering: they will learn, for example, mental mapping skills, logic, use of diagrams, spatial visualization skills, and many more.

Definitely a must have for any family with children, and adjustable skill level also makes it a great game for any adult wanting to refresh basic skills or your knowledge of Venn Diagrams. Two thumbs up!

I used to have this installed on windows 11 from the ISO available here. But my laptop crashed and now after restoring windows I can not get this to play. I had the IO backed up, but no matter what I do it won't work. It installed, but then it says "not enough hard disk space to run Mission T.H.I.N.K."
Does anyone know how to fix that? Compatibility setting do nothing.
If there was a trick to making it work, I seem to have forgotten.

I played this game a lot as a kid, to the point where each of the puzzles became intuitive so I could solve them quickly. Years later, I took a college course in pre-apprenticeship for trades. They asked me to solve some exercises in 3-D views, drafting the front, top and side views of various objects. And because I had played this game when I was younger, I could do it easily. Many of my peers struggled.

I've played this game so much I think of it as kids' stuff, but I guess I've been taking for granted the real-world applications of the logic this game has taught me. They really should be teaching this stuff in elementary schools.

This game actually came out as I was stepping into middle school and growing out of the Super Solvers series...though I still had a fondness for Gizmos and Gadgets. I actually found myself greatly enjoying this game on the same level as G&G, if not slightly more because of the fact that it had added challenges to it to make it difficult even after a teenager.

Like Pearl, I was sad to hear that this was the last Super Solvers game made since it was a fantastic final hurrah for them, and I'd love to see some new games in the series for the newer generations.

To run this gem of a game you must download Oracle VM Virtual Box and run windows XP in it. Even in Windows XP this game required compatibility settings enabled for Windows ME/98 and 256 Colors to run well. Enjoy!

How do you get this to work in windows 10. DOS box doesn't work and when I try to open it, it says "There is not enough hard disc space to run mission T.H.I.N.K."

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

This game is essentially Gizmos and Gadgets, but with logic puzzles instead of science puzzles. It's very well done, polished, and a lot of fun to play.

The sad part is that this is the final Super Solvers game in the series, so Shady Glen won't hear from Morty Maxwell again. He was quite a quirky character.
