SNK launched the Neo Geo in 1990 as a shared arcade and home platform. The home AES console played the very same cartridges as the arcade MVS, a rare promise at the time, though the price was steep.
The system built its name on fighting games and run-and-guns: Metal Slug, The King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury and many more.
MAME and other emulators run the Neo Geo library on current hardware.
