Sinclair launched the ZX Spectrum in 1982 as a cheap colour home computer, and it became the centre of British 8-bit gaming for the rest of the decade.
Its games ran from platformers like Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy to the space trading of Elite and the isometric worlds of Head over Heels, most sold on cassette by a crowd of small UK studios.
Fuse and other emulators load Spectrum tapes and snapshots on modern machines, colour clash and all.
