In my opinion the second-best KOEI series after Romance of The Three Kingdoms, this series is based on the awe-inspiring exploits of Temujin, a.k.a. Genghis Khan, the Mongol ruler who once ruled the biggest empire in the world.
The RTK engine is tweaked to great effect to handle nomadic lifestyle and tribal warfare, such as the option to raze cities you conquer, more emphasis on hit-and-run style of combat, and more. One of the best features in both games is that after your unification of the Mongol empire is complete, you will have access to new strategic options, such as diplomacy, in your next step to conquer the known world. Definitely not to be missed!

Never mind, folks. I meant Genghis Khan II, wrong tab. #2 has the stupid pictograms, at least on SNES, because idiots of the 1990s thought they made games easier to understand. I'm down-voting my own self there for that one. This is actually a cool game. What you need to know to play this is that to go back in the weird menu system, just enter nothing. Don't press your escape key or backspace, just enter nothing to go back. Simple but not intuitive for me. Enjoy.
Ya gotta learn a new hieroglyphic language to figure out how to play the thing. Words are just too easy to understand.
This has to be one of the greatest strategy games ever, definitely the grandfather of the Civilization or Crusader Kings Genre.
Don't, just don't, get the NES version, that is a really good game, this.. just don't.
