Kroz was a popular shareware game series passed around on BBS' back in the day. It was popular because, while it was ASCII graphics, it was colorful (even on CGA monitors), it was a live-action puzzle game, the puzzles weren't just one-offs.. they were part of a larger map you were progressing through screen-by-screen, it had complex scripting where you could have buttons and levers activate other stuff on the maps, and it even came with an editor to build new levels.
The Caverns of Kroz (1 & 2) were cool, because they were a fantasy-style adventure game built with the Kroz editor, and focused more on fantasy adventure / puzzles then the typical stuff in Kroz.
Really enjoyable stuff.
