Hey DOD, I also 'win' by freeze every so often. I think the game can only handle so many flow chart breaks.
Beautiful game, reminds me of the '90 :)) maximum score 507, when Egypt is the last enemy and you win by military the game often freeze, any other with same problem?
I've been playing this game again for a couple of years. I do really well a lot of the time. I've got a long list of all the headlines written down because I think they are funny and telling. It's pretty difficult not to come off like a fascist by the end of the game. What is really interesting is when you have to start courting Soviet help and we start to see their military kit. A great game I've been playing since I was a kid.

You can break the game by destroying a nuclear instalation while also launching a successful coup. Should have one the game because I was the last nation standing but very fun. Played many times

Cool game and simple to play. The game should continue after the fall of all your neighbors though. Whats the point of Libya, Iran and Iraq if you cant attack em?
Some common trends I see are Egypt attacking Libya and winning easily, a back and forth protracted war between Iraq and Iran, and Syria attacking Lebanon or Iraq. I have never had a game hang.
Wars in this game are weird. Lebanon, Libya and on a lesser scale Jordan are pushovers with Syria being roughly equal to you and Egypt being OP. I have never won a war with Egypt unless I used nukes.
As a rule avoid conflicts with nuclear powers as if you gain the upper hand they will launch.
Is it possible to increase ground troop size? Typically I lose wars by lack of manpower.
Beware of Egypt and Syria ganging up on you!

For some reason the US was not happy with me nuking Egypt. I think it's the first time I used nukes and it didn't end the game. It was nice to know that when the last enemy fell beneath my boot heels the US was considering lifting their embargo.
Not sure why I got such a low score (233) compared to others posts. I thought I did really good,
Egypt started a war with me and I nuked them. Then Lebanon was about to collapse just because so I invaded them with a small force and easily won. Then I after I built my army (maybe shouldn't have) I took out Jordan with ease.
Surprisingly Iraq developed nukes and took Syria out in the first 4 months with a nuclear strike.
Aways ? the 666 score but got a 587 saved screen shot if i ca figure how to load it

Very Fun and Interesting game. Played and Won a few times, though it just crashed for me on Egypt. Really makes you think, especially when dealing with Syrian might and Egyptian aggression.
Also, to Nukes: The best way to keep the US on your side is just to buy, buy, buy. I have not been invaded by them yet, though I have lost weaponry. If invasions are possible, it will be just another interesting turn in an amazing game.

I've played this guy a thousand times over the past two decades or so, and on many different pc's and os.
I've sometimes seen this issue with it crashing, sometimes not. I could never find a rhyme or reason to it, to why it did or didn't. My solution was always go find a different download and hope for the best.
Currently I can't play it at all anymore, as it is incompatible with W8.1 (unless someone has a workaround?)
Love this game, had it on my ST......one bone of contention though is that as the other comments mention the game will hang if your reign is too long and you are in a drawn out conflict with either Egypt or Syria...
Bought this game when it first came out because it was very cheap, even at the time. Loved it then, love it now. Still a game that makes you earn a win... just defeated Egypt and on the same turn Syria invades and takes me out on the same turn change!
