Congo Bongo is an extremely faithful port of Atari's famous jump-n-run platform arcade game, which in itself is a blatant ripoff of Donkey Kong, presented in Zaxxon-style isometric perspective.
When the game begins, Bongo the gorilla just gave you, an innocent sleeping hunter, "hotfoot". Naturally, you vow revenge on Bongo for this cruel prank. Throughout four levels of the game, you will run, jump, and climb your way through a dangerous jungle while avoiding various animals and projectiles.
The game includes the introductory animations and sliding screen transitions from the arcade level-- something not commonly seen in PC conversions. Gameplay is quite fun, although Congo Bongo suffers from the same problem of Zaxxon PC version: the very limited 4-color CGA palette makes it very difficult to gauge distances between objects, so any illusion of 3D is almost nil.
Still, it is one of SEGA's better arcade conversions, and well worth a look for fans of the original. Thumbs up!

This is a PC booter and my last resort was running the booter on windows 1.04. Screen randomly split up. Would prefer you end up emulating in a browser than actually running this.
This is the PC-Booter version.
Does a DOS version exists that runs from a Hard Disk?
I've read somewhere that this game was developed by the original creator of Donkey Kong. So it's not actually a rip-off.
It works and it´s very good for be a game from 1984. It works in DosBox, I just start playing and I reach the second level with scorpions and snakes.
I've actually written an infinite lives patch for this. https://www.shdon.com/blog/2024/11/02/congo-bongo-trainer
The DOS version file corrupted and can't run in windows 10
Me gusta mucho el juego
This one is a lot of fun! It's a good challenge for younger gamers too.
For some reason it always made me think of the line "Uh oh, Chongo!" from Danger Island.
this is nothing like donkey kong.
These screenshots are definitely not from a CGA version
