"A simulation of World War III in Central Europe. The game had some interesting concepts (e.g., forward deployment of subordinate units albeit at a cost of added fatigue), but the user-friendliness/clumsiness of inputs was so awkward as to make the product a tedious chore rather than an interesting or enlightening experience." Find this title if you can. Not every SSI title was superb but this one really still is. Highest of high bars.

This is one of the very few 80's strategy games where you can play as the USSR and take over America, so if you're like me and that's what you're looking for, this is the best one.
I was in the middle of Tom Clancys !Red Storm Rising" when I started to play RL which made playing the game really thrilling.
I loved this game when it came out in 1989. I was in the Army, and I'd play it on my Atart ST like it was a training aid. I finally had to move to a PC and I found the PC version's user interface to be a real disappointment. On the Atari I could move units multiple hexes with my mouse. The PC numeric pad was like going back to the Stone Age. But then I had to remind myself that it was running on a Microsoft OS. :)
I wonder if it could be ported to modern tablets... I loved that game. Amiga version was the best in my opinion.
And what do you use five Amigas for anyway, other than TV post-production? Hell, even Babylon 5 dumped all the Amigas after the first season!
I hate microsoft windows .always did..;my pc has always problems....meanwhile I have still 5 ..yes 5 amigas running ..still!
