Reunion is a worthy attempt from Amnesty Design (now Digital Reality) that follows in the grand tradition of space exploration / strategy games pioneered by Starflight.
The game suffers from shortcomings that are similar to Maelstrom: cumbersome interface, too much micro-management, and snail-paced story that picks up only halfway through the game. The second half of the game is considerably much better, but you'll need a lot of patience to get to that point <G> Still, this is a great, story-oriented, epic sci-fi strategy game that all armchair commanders should take a look.

I loved this game, took a couple of attempts but I managed to beat it in the end and fulfill the title of the game.
A few tips.
Max out mining on your planet.
Get trade ships early and get the two resources new earth cannot get from the moon around the blue planet.
Import Energon too.
You only need one galleon to jump a trade fleet.
Upgrade to best advisors and send away to university, don't buy the cheap one's you should be able to afford the mid level one's right at the start.
More population = more credits
Don't build destroyers or cruisers just build starfighters. You will only need destroyers and cruisers to jump your fleet but these are slow to build and resource intensive.
You only need to survive 6 waves or Morguls they stop attacking after that.
Missile launchers kill everything in ground combat.
Ignore building ground units until after you have beaten all 6 Morguls waves. You won't need them.
Land trade ships at first aliens home after they are defeated.
Put colonies everywhere that is possible.
Game is easy once you defeat Morguls so just focus on space fleet.
Save often.
No it wasnt bugged. I finished the game today. The problem was it took a very long time. Nevertheless I had to restart because I was not able to fight the Morgruls. I guess this was really a bug. Because I had a spionage satelite to the krulls then morgruls and krulls attacked me and the Morgruls on Jade had suddenly 2900 spaceships. Lol. This must have been a bug.
The game is okay. I played it a long time ago in the 90s as young man. And I was successful. But unfortunately its kinda buggy. I guess if you use a spionage satelite its like a declaration of war. and then certain events wont happen with these Aliens. And then the game wont end. This means you must do in every moment the "right" decision. this means how the developers wanted it. This means you will start the game again and again to find the right decision path. Or its just bugged. I dont know.
Welp, I'm back, chipping away at Reunion again. It's been 30 years now and I've not beaten the game a single time. Last time I tried was some 5 years ago and I got really far, but had the thing bug out on some alien.pic (which couldn't be replaced with any other alienX.pic, I tried).
In this playthrough there was a bug that started to print out sprites in space on "Star Map", the glitch advancing further down as time ticks. I took some video of it, will upload to YT soon (Can find me on YT as @jaakkopontinen). Caused a crash upon entering any moon/planet.
In the playthrough (through - haha yeah I'll believe it when I see it) I'm on currently I just wiped out the Morgruls. The bugs are piling up. There are already a few moons that crash the game if I click on them - they had "Building of colony" messages before the bug appeared. The thing is I had not started to build a colony on said moons. Go figure.
I'm also glad I've gotten all the best advisors some time back, as if I now enter the "Commanders" screen, the game crashes because of a "face.pic" missing.
I'm nervous :D Soon gotta fight the League but the worst opponent by far is Reunion itself. Nevertheless, it's one of the best games I know. Modern audience "gamers" would propably die of shock if they'd have to try something this unfair and broken :D
@LOVE
Don't think I want it to be remade, it's just gonna be awful in comparison.
Well it's already been remade decades ago :) It's called Imperium Galactica. Plays a little bit differently but a lot of gameplay overlaps and the events in both games are the same at least in the beginning because I haven't made it to the late phase.
There is another thing that I did not comment on in the previous comments that the keys are also everywhere in the game if you do not have the keys you are dead inside and I know from experience in my second comment it is put on your feet and I think that the keys is the original since there are others who do not get the keys
mmmm..... sorry in my previous comment i made a mistake what i was saying is a blunder and to highlight it is a great game except the difficulty
ufff I will tell you that this game is a headache and more the difficulty of time and strategy and that it is a bit of confusion if you do not do it well, death will be lurking for not making the right decision but it is a game with a high IQ because it's really difficult to play if you put the kill
keeps crashing in browser and wont play when downloaded
Any chance of uploading the cd version? It has better sound effects and music
thanks
loved this game on the amiga would love it to be remade for pc of todays standards but just the way it is
I can't get the game to work under Boxer. I set the sound options to SB Pro, as NOC suggested, but it still crashes after a short Intro. But the sound works fine during the intro, so I do not think the sound is the problem. When the game crashes, it also crashes Boxer. I am running Boxer on a Mac.
The atmosphere is just shrouding. You ARE exploring solar systems, trying to build, advance.
As a kid, had no chance of beating the game. As an adult... Without online help - doubt it.
Last time I went for it, got to 7th system (I think...), but there was a glitch with a missing file. It was a (.pic?) file containing the image of some alien race. Said the file is missing. It wasn't, though. Tried replacing it with an another one of the same file type and file name characteristics. Didn't work. I think the filename had "15" in it.
Anyways, love the game. Don't think I want it to be remade, it's just gonna be awful in comparison.
This game reminded me a lot of Millenia 2.2 and Deuteros which I had played before on the Amiga. To bad about the bugs the CD version had. I never finished the game because of that.
Excellent game. I had in 1995 the original CD but at that moment I remember that the PC had some issues and the game doesn't allow to save so the only way was to complete the game without saving... I took me 15 continous hours to complete the game :) but was the first game who knock me that way at that moment.
I had a question for the people of abandonware or community, if i want to play it on different browser (or PCs) were do I get the saved files?? In ask because the dosbox is generating to many errors but in browser version i can play it without problems.
Thanks in advice
Is there a possibility to get this game in German?
Yes the REUNION should be remaked or released for android ;-) ...the game has so strong atmosphere, that you just have to fall in love with it :-) ...its a pitty that I was unable to make it till the end... I am not sure If I had a bad version or it was just a bug, but every time it ended the same way... thousands and thousands of enemy ships... the bigger was my army, the stronger was the enemy... I played first (just my estimation) 4 hours of game for 20 times... but than every time something happend :-)
This game is made by the same Hungarian studio, who created the Imperium Galactica series.

Can somebody please even just redo this game with better graphics and sounds? It would be a hit again.
Everything is well placed. You do not get lost, even if you have mining, planet and moon colonizing, army management for attacking and defending, money management and exploring to do all at the same time.
Brilliant game. Brilliant strategy. Hard. Yet interface was excellent.
Please Please remake or even Make a Reunion 2.
The second part - maybe not a sequel but similar - is the Imperium Galactica (1 and 2)
One of the most engaging and enjoyable games I ever played. Going to do it again for nostalgia's sake.
Struggled to get this working in Dosbox under Win 7 32, but a few tips:
If your sound is set to SB16 mode in Dosbox, take note of the IRQ assigned. Select the SB Pro option in Reunion and set the correct settings - should be just fine then.
Enjoy!
Definately one of my all time favorites.
For those strugling to get it to work; use dosbox.
- Install dosbox
- Extract the rar contents to c:\reunion
- Run dosbox press alt + enter, and type the following (press enter after each line);
mount c c:\
c:
cd reunion
setup (chose 2, 2, 5 in that order)
start
(next time you launch the game leave out the setup part).
The game may crash during the launch, just follow these steps again.
Struggling to get this to work. I've downloaded D-Fend, but the steps I use don't setup the game. Does anybody have a step by step process on how to make this work on windows 7. I loved this game when I was a kid.
This great game really made me dream when i was a child...
This was my first space strategy game i have ever played. Beautiful in every aspect.A little hard though...
One of the best imagaination gripping games of all time, it's a pitty the bugs where not ironed out before release and the second part was never created .. my fav game ever!
