If you have problem with DirectX during installation, just run AutoRun.exe in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. It worked for me.

It is absolutely possible to play this in 2025, on Windows 11 (Probably 10 too)
If you are running the installer (autorun.exe) and getting the DirectX problem, do as 'UEFA' says and create a shortcut to autorun.exe, right click on the shortcut, go to properties, then change add '-DXInstalled' to the target (no quotes)
After installation, if it tells you to insert the CD (which it did for me even though I had the actual CD inserted) go to the install location (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\EA SPORTS\UEFA Champions League 2006-2007) and replace CL07.exe with the NoCD CL07.exe

If you get an error about DirectX not being installed when you run the setup (but you know it is installed for sure), then make a shortcut of the Autorun.exe and then edit it by adding a " -DXInstalled" at the end of the .exe path, like this: "YourPathBlaBla\autorun.exe -DXInstalled". Now if you run the setup from this shortcut, it will think DirectX is installed and allow you to install the game. Note: this patch only fixes the bug which doesn't detect DirectX as being installed, but you'd better make sure DirectX is actually installed, otherwise you'll solve nothing.

I followed every step and this game doesn't just want to launch for Windows 10. Mine is AMD Radeon 780M and it's too new apparently for it. It worked smoothly on my old 2014 laptop.
