Versus fighting games have an emphasis on balanced one-on-one combat between two characters, one of whom may be computer controlled. Such games usually feature exaggerated martial arts or street fighting contests and take place within a fixed arena rather than an open world environment (a feature of beat ’em up and brawler games). Highlights include the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter games.
