Many old Japanese doujin games were developed because the creator had some talent that they wanted to showcase and the only way they could do so was to make their own game. One of the most well-known examples is the legendary Touhou franchise created by Zun, who wanted to compose music for games and used his Touhou series as a vehicle to demonstrate his sequencing talents. Despite his mediocre drawing skills, Zun managed to make games that were fun, memorable, and had great music....
H.A.I. Systems, whomever they were, had phenomenal talent at sequencing. The music in Aya Chan's World is powerful, grabbing you from the first note and refusing to let you go. The compositions are at least as good as anything you'd hear in Megamans 2-4, if not better.
Unfortunately, the music is ALL Aya Chan's World has going for it. The vehicle used to showcase the soundtrack is a hentai racing game (that's right, hentai racing), where neither is particularly appealing. The racing is against the clock in an ugly, blocky, brightly colored maze track where you'd have to try to lose. The less said about Aya herself the better.
Get this for the music. Use an audio ripper, take the soundtrack, and don't bother again with the game, which can be easily beaten in 7 minutes or less.
