I played this game endlessly with my little brother on our state-of-the-art IBM XT. We were hooked by the fluid animations, cool fighting moves, endless enemies, and well-drawn oriental backgrounds. It also has a good mix of indoor and outdoor levels.
Try as we might, we could never beat the game at difficulty levels beyond 7 (9 is the hardest). At 7, the only way we could beat the sheer number of enemies was to keep our fingers pressed on the "punch" button :)
Definitely a standard-bearer for side-scrolling action games for generations to come.

For anyone interested, pressing "F2" puts the game in punch mode, "F3" is movement mode, and "F4" is kicking mode.
It took me quite a while to discover this bit of information on the internet. I am working my way through making reviews of all these old games, and just finding the control mapping can be quite the adventure sometimes.
Enjoy!
After playing games like Sopwith, Castle & 3-Demon, playing something like Bushido would blow your mind back in the day. It was like a real arcade game. Other games were usually ASCII graphics or some kind of strategy or adventure game. But, Bushido was a live-action beat-em-up. Even the CGA graphics were decent for the time. Don't expect it to be on-par with Street Fighter II. But, for the time, this was an awesome fighting game.
