My friend had the Apple ][ version and I had the C64. We hand drew all the dungeon maps, shared secrets we found, and eventually finished the game. Probably the hardest game I've played, but in a good way. I still come back to it from time to time, but can't find the time to get deep into it again.

Look... I played the Gold Box stuff. I played Questron. I played Ultima...
This game was too damned hard for what it offered. Even in '88.

Not a terrible game. The graphics were good but a direct steal from the Ultima series. My main criticisms were: It was almost TOO large. I recall spending large swaths of time systematically trolling the sea trying to make sure I didn't miss some tiny island somewhere, and when your party died, it instantly saved out the game, forcing you to restart unless you were wise enough to keep a dummy save disk in while you played.

Fantastic RPG. I remember getting almost to the end then my saved game file corrupted. Arrrgh!

This game had nice graphics and looked pretty fun, but I read it was very difficult.
