this is (sorta) abandonware because you can only get the CD version on steam by buying the bundle with BFG edition CD edition and ressurection of evil

I bought this in 2008 for £12!
I had a Pentium 4 PC dated from 2001 at the time,it ran in a tiny window and it slowed to 10fps when anything happened,i later installed it on 2007 era laptop,(Yonah) 2x 32 bit cores,DDR2,it ran really well there too,i finally completed it in 2012 on a core 2 duo where it ran at full settings.
Bit too dark in places, very scary ambiance and monsters were well designed, lacks the just shoot em up feel of the originals, some levels are confusing to navigate, the thing where you can see into dark rooms with the torch but you can't use your guns was stupid, but there's a mod to allow both at the same time.
You die if you fall more than a foot down, which is a bit crap, you begin with weedy weapons that you need to keep reloading at first, there's some good puzzles to solve to progress, has some good sections here and there and the graphics were ground breaking in 2004,it's worth a look as the latest Doom The Dark ages feels to me like Boulders Gate crossed with Overwatch,it's too polished and assessable to casual gamers, not scary or nasty and hard like Doom 3 or the original games.
If you like hard scary Doom pre dead space and you like horror, this is the one for you!

On Linux: go to a website called "gog-games.to", or grab a Tor Browser and look for something called "Doom 3" on the Pirate Bay. The GOG version is best. Install under wine or Heroic Launcher. Look for a flatpak called "Doom BFA" install. Sorted!
Is it illegal/immoral? I honestly don't care.

Unfortunately the game is not abandonware like the Unreal games. While the original Doom 3 was indeed delisted, it can still be bought on Steam in a package that contains the original, the expansion pack and the BFG. And the new pack is also more expensive, and it makes you buy two games you probably aren't interested in anyway. Bummer. :(

Would love to get the original unedited version of Doom 3 on my PC. Do still have the original Xbox version and got the PS3 remaster but its just not the same. Did nit like the alterations to levels and the fact they got rid of cheats. Cheating in doom was almost as iconic as the game itself(I mean who doesn't remember god mode?) so I was really pissed to see they left cheats out in favor of some dumb useless trophy/achievement system the game never even needed. Please post the original unaltered Doom 3 somewhere.

Going to the steam page for this game:
Notice: DOOM 3 is no longer available on the Steam store.
So this would fit the criteria for abandonware now no? Since the old doom3 version is no longer available on any store?
