One of the best examples of a game that sank without a trace in the market due to misleading marketing, F-22 Raptor is another of Novalogic's "sim-lite" entries, similar to the famous Comanche series.
Instead of marketing it as an arcade shooter with some sim elements, Novalogic decided to call it one of the most "realistic flight simulators". The result was predictable: die-hard armchair pilots cried 'foul!' at being deceived into buying the game, while the joystick jocks, the real target group for the game ignored the title completely. Which is a shame, because F-22 Raptor is a very enjoyable arcade-style sim that offers excellent multiplayer option.
Games Domain has all the scoop: "This is not a bad game but it is not a realistic flight simulator either. It is this reviewer's opinion that this sim was never intended as a realistic simulator. I believe that this game was designed from the bottom up as an online game with single user capability, intended to be flyable by everybody, allowing a large group of gamers to play an entertaining flying-game on the Internet.
What happened? Probably that Novalogic's marketing people stepped in and decided that it would be easier to sell it if it were marketed as a "realistic" flight simulator. Perhaps Lockheed demanded a "realistic sim" if they were to put their name on it, I don't know. What I do know is that no programmer worth his keyboard would design and code this game and then honestly say that "yes, this is the most realistic sim I could write".
As a single player game I feel that Raptor is completely unattractive to the "serious" sim crowd. If you're the kind of simmer that enjoy the likes of EF2000, Apache Longbow, ...or SU-27 Flanker then I strongly advice you to stay beyond visual range of F-22 Raptor. If you want to fly the F-22 you will be much better off buying Interactive Magic's iF22 or perhaps the upcoming DID F-22 ADF.
Still, if you are prepared to overlook its simplicity, you may find Raptor a good buy anyway - as an online multiplayer game. If you are the kind of gamer that enjoy blasting baddies in the air for 15 minutes every now and then, caring little or none about flight models and avionics systems, then you might love this. The graphics looks good, there are loads of canyons to do (unrealistic but) cool flying in and you don't even have to open the manual to be successful.
The online multiplayer games should be heaven to you. I have even found a Novalogic quote that actually is true: "Easy learning curve - You'll be up in the air and fighting within minutes." It's too bad that the people who would like this sim probably will be scared away by the claims of "realism" and that the people who will hate it might actually buy it."
Highly recommended, but only for anyone who likes 'lite' sims such as Strike Commander or Comanche, or wants an introductory-level sim to play with a friend.

O patch traduz menus, briefings, objetivos de missão, mensagens de rádio, HUD e outros textos do jogo.
A instalação é bem simples: basta baixar o pacote, extrair e executar o instalador. Não precisa instalar Python ou qualquer outra ferramenta!
O instalador também cria backups automaticamente e verifica a compatibilidade dos arquivos antes de aplicar a tradução.

There’s an easy way to play this game on Windows 11
For 64-bit Windows 11, you’ll need to download “otvdm-v0.9.0” (GitHub) before installation. Double-click “install” to run it, then open and run the “setup” file located in the “NOVA” folder within the ISO file. Once installation is complete, click "uninstall" and done.
Next, simply download “cnc-ddrw” (also, GitHub) and extract it into the game directory. Use “cncconfig.exe” to adjust preferred settings and shaders. We don’t need to change any compatibility settings or install any additional software to play.

FQSGUITAR’s rip was virus-free and worked perfectly for me. The only thing I changed was the aspect ratio in the dgVoodoo settings to 4:3, but that’s obviously just a matter of personal preference. Thanks for uploading the files!

I managed to get F-22 Raptor fully working on Windows 11 x64 and uploaded my already-configured package.
What's included:

GUIDE TO USE USB CONTROLLER ON NOVALOGIC's F-22 RAPTOR (1997)
1) Download XInputPlus Ver4.16.1 (latest) at https://www.xinput.org/download-for-windows
2) Unzip it at your preferred location
3) Read the READ ME inside the folder.
4) Run XInputPlus.exe
5) Set the Target Program (your Raptor.exe location).
6) At DirectInput tab, Enable DirectInput Output. Then assign right stick to Z Rot/Z Axis and LT/RT to Button 11/12 (if not it will conflict with the right stick).
7) Then click the 3 lines button right above the app... select "Apply Only Ini File".
8) Quit the app
9) Go to Loader folder
10) Read the Read Me file inside.
11) Run XInputPlusLoader.exe
12) Select Create ShortCut
13) Drag and drop (don't cut/ copy) Raptor.exe from the game folder to the app window.
14) The app will create the shortcut on desktop. Use this shortcut to play the game.
15) No need to mess with the app again unless you want to edit/ configure settings in XInputPlus.exe for the INI file.

The midi music doesn't works by default in Linux/Lutris and you need to add this line in Lutris game's configure, system options, pre lanuch script and add the line
/usr/bin/fluidsynth -a pulseaudio /home/user/.local/files/fluidsynth/midi.sf2
Works pretty good on Linux with Lutris with a few tweaks:
-Install the exe by extracting the ISO
-The no CD error can be easily avoided by opening the exe in an online Hex editor and searching/replacing (EB 2F 8B 15 with EB 2F EB F7)

I run the DOS version of this game under DOSBox. It isn't really an arcade type game, it's more a simulator game, and a very good one. The sound & graphics are very good, best I've seen in any DOS flight sim game. If you have issues trying to run the Windows version, you might try the DOS version.

Damas y caballeros, la solucion es tan sencilla como practica, lo primero es tener DAEMON una vez instalado el juego , aunque este montado con daemon pedira CD, entonces, desmonten la unidad virtual y el archivo original .ISO deben hacer una copia del mismo y le colocan otro nombre, por ejemplo F22raptor1.iso, ahora lo que haran es montar el ISO original y la copia que hicieron. asi que deben tener los 2 ISO montados simultaneamente, ahora abran el icono en el escritorio del juego y a disfrutrar ;). Esta solucion es de mi auditoria de manera que no la encontraran en otro foro!

Okay, I figured out a way to install this damn thing on modern (win10x & up) systems.
1. Install PCem.
2. Install Win98/Win95 on it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx2H3IV9SG4), make a note of were the virtual hdd is located.
3. Then on the PCem emulated win95/98, install the game (make note of the install location).
4. Now using Deamon Tools or something similar, open the win98 virtual hdd that was created, then go to the location where the game was installed, then copy it somewhere to save.)
5. Again using Deamon Tools, mount the F-22 raptop game iso as drive D:
5.a If you already have another drive as D: , go to the copied game files, find Setup.CD, open with notepad and change the "D:" to whatever drive the game iso is mounted on, eg if it mounted on F: , change the "D:" to F:.
6. Go to where you copied the game files, find raptor.exe, then right click it, click more options, click properties, click compatibility, then select run in compatibity mode for windows xp service pack 2, then select run as administrator.
7. Run raptor.exe as administrator.

Really enjoyed playing this game back in the days of 56k dial up modems. Co-leader of the Jolly Roger's squadron and tied with Terror Force squadron for 1st place out of 350 squadrons in the 1998 tournament put on by Novalogic. Our squadron got skull and crossbones put on out tails for this by Novalogic! Plus other cool prizes. Tons of fun!
I click Install and nothing happens, how to solve ?
Ran it and got the pop with the options to install things. I click on Install f-22 raptor and mouse starts circling for a few seconds like it's going to do something then it doesn't.

To avoid SAM and AAA radar, I had fun on my ingress to bomb the targets going in between the mountains. And If I faced any air to air threats, I sent my wing-men to attack them to save my missiles (and be able to defend myself) and I would send them home when they ran out of their own. Be sure to recall them to formation if they keep saying, "my missile went stupid." I also pretended to fly an older fighter, by turning off auto chaff and flare dispense and flew just above the clouds to the land and turned into a flight pattern witch was perpendicular to the incoming missile to make it see and be fooled by the countermeasure.
