Yee-haw! Experience life in the wild, wild west in this adventure co-designed by jokesters Al Lowe and Josh Mandel.
As the title suggests, you are a gunman-turned-pharmacist who will soon find enough cause to pick up a gun again. Excellent puzzles (except for the annoying, devious copy-protection scheme disguised as "puzzle" in filling prescriptions), cool plot, and tons of zany characters. The humor is somewhat stale and predictable, however. Suffice it to say that if you have never understood the appeal of John Wayne movies and raunchy cowboy humor, you won't enjoy this game. But for anyone who appreciates jokes that have the word "flatulant" in them, this is the perfect game for you.

It doesn't work it says it can't find a resource
Talk about closing the loop! My wife gave me this for my birthday or Christmas one year, when it was still out in the stores. Or she tried -- I opened the box and the CD was missing! She took it back and could only get a refund, but there were no other copies. FINALLY -- after all these years -- I'm finally gonna play it!
Excellent! Although puzzles are extremely hard... Please, add a download link of the manual as the game can't be complete without it...
game says incomplete for mac :(
Incredibly funny, enjoyable game. One of the best adventure games ever made. Highly recommended!
Its a nice game although very difficult... P.S you WILL need the manual to complete this game...
hey how do i install this to get it to run?
This is kind of a spoiler, but my favorite puzzle is using the key to the church to open the beer bottles(Church-Key is American slang for beer-bottle opener for those who don't know.)
I just noticed the Japanese name for this game "The Good, The Bad, and The Pharmacist" That's absolutely wonderful, why didn't Al Lowe think of that himself?
In my review, I said that you had to have a pretty twisted sense of humor to solve this without a walk-through. That is still true, but since this is an Al Lowe game, did it really need to be said? That's pretty much true of ALL of his games(except the ones that were written for children.)
The good-lots and lots of humor-mainly the game should be played to
point and click on everything to see what funny response you get.
The bad-the "hot" spots for the action tool/items are very hard to see, much less to hit--even when you have a walkthrough telling you what to do. Without a walkthrough one might correctly guess an action but decide that it was not correct because one could not find the hot spot.
I has special difficulty putting the bags of baking powder on the right side of the tetter totter and would have given up except that the walkthrough gave that as the correct action.
The game does have a good story and some expected and unexpected surprises. Enjoy, but don't feel bad if you need to use a walkthrough
In case you're interested, The creator of Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist has a lot of information and extras(Including a recorded version of the theme song with Al himself singing the lyrics, and the fake medical text that came with the game) at his website allowe.com.
Created by Al Lowe, the same sick but ingenious mind that brought us "Leisure Suit Larry", Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist was the first and best video game spoof of Westerns ever. Although the copy-protection is a little annoying(using a fake medical text that came with the text to fill prescriptions and solve one of the puzzles,) the snail stampede and other hilarious threats to Coarsegold ought to keep you laughing for hours. Download now and enjoy. Just remember, you have to have a pretty twisted sense of humor to be able to solve all of the puzzles without help.
