Gorky Zero: Beyond Honor

For NOCD to actually work:

1)Copy the game's files from the disc into a folder on the computer.
2)Move the contents of the bin folder into the Data folder, use a program such as 7Zip to extract every "Pak.Z" file inside "Data" which will turn them into "Pak" files.
3)Rename game.exe to quake2.exe and then apply Windows 98 compatibility mode

Then after that, download the zip from this link:

Make sure you click "download without authorization." Once that downloads, unzip and place those files in your data folder. Make sure to apply the same compatibility and admin settings for "ar.exe" just like the "quake.exe" (not sure if that matters, but that's what I did) and the game should start right up.

Removing "exeFile": "quake2.exe" from the config allows you to manually select the exe file, so the game can detect save files correctly instead of searching in the root folder."

using no cd patch not work. i try using ultra iso to mount it and using
SecuROMLoader by nckstwrt with compability off since it will not work with compability on. with this config work

Game won't run no matter what for me.
The provided no CD patch won't work, but I found a different one.
On VMware the game opens up with it, but all the textures are white blocks.
On Windows 11 I get an error that the game cannot open "categories.set".
I tried everything from PCGamingWiki.

If you go to PC gaming wiki, there's now instructions on how to get the game running without a virtual machine.

How I made it work in both win10 and win11:
1. Convert mdf file to iso image
2. Mount the iso image in VirtualBox and install
3. Open properties of the shortcut on the desktop and open file location
4. Copy the installed files onto your real PC
5. Change game.exe to quake2.exe (NOT A JOKE ACTUALLY WORKS, and it only works with quake2.exe for some reason)
6. Mount the iso image on your real PC and click quake2.exe
7. If you get "Please Insert the Original CD" you need to eject and remount or restart your pc and try again

I wanted to play this old classic again but I had the crashing issue. I changed the .exe to QUAKE2 and it worked.

Apparently you can install it via using Oracle VM VirtualBox running Windows XP.

Hopefully someone uploads a R.I.P for us who don't know how to Virtual Machine.

When I try "For those having problems with installing the game - just copy the contents, unzip files in /data and copy ar.exe."

I get this error when trying to play "Cannot open Catagories.set file. Press OK to Abort"

If the issue is mostly with installing, wouldn't it help alot if someone uploaded their already installed RIP to this site? (I can't find an pre-installed english version anywhere.)

It's strange solution and I didn't believed that it ever work but
you have to go to \Gorky Zero\bin and rename exe file to quake2.exe
I also used compatibility mode with windows xp, and it works perfectly o_O

did anyone ever get it working properly? changing the exe to quake2.exe doesnt work for me. crashes after the game logo

The repack version keeps crashing, tried mounting the iso version to a winxp virtual machine has drm can't play, the cd patch doesn't work, nothing seems to work. If somebody got it working please help.

Game is running when you change game.exe to quake2.exe

I set compability to win xp + turned off fullscreen optimisation + forced admin rights

Anyone managed to get this game working on Windows 8?

Apparently it does, but you need to rename the .exe file to "QUAKE2" to get it to work.

it doesn't work on modern systems, it crash after logo. We need patch/fix. Compatibility mode is not working.
