Fairly good formula one racing simulator that comes with a handy track designer. Unfortunately, it was released around the same time Geoff Grammond released his racer Formula One Grand Prix, which made everything else look like a little beetle in pink pants - bad luck.
However the track editor in Grand Prix Unlimited is still useful and innovative, and the overall feel is okay. BUT the controls in the game are far too sensitive on anything better than a low 486 - which makes the game nearly unplayable on today's computers (same problem as with Test Drive III). A slow-down util can help. Doesn't the (annoying) music in this one sound very similar to the on heard in TD3?

This is a great game I had fun with for dos back in the day. I especially loved the map editor that you can make new really big and cool tracks with. If the joystick broke like it did you could switch to lane control.
The problem people are having and all these negative comments are because they play the game with the wrong resolution and graphics settings. That and they're more used to advanced racing games on windows xp and PSP.
Don't take our words for it. Please play it yourself and come to your own conclusions
This runs on the Test Drive 3 engine and it REALLY isn't suited for an F1 game. It is terrible to control!
Back in the 90s this game was highly praised in the magazines however I always considered it as way overrated. The engine is fast but the driving model is a bit unnatural. It is quite average when compared with "Formula One Grand Prix". It seems like Accolade wanted to create their own F1 racer after some experience obtained from "Test Drive" series. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it didn't went well.
Resolution must be change by your monitor resolution

Any idea how to enter option screen?
The game runs faster coz the actual processors cycles. Run it in DoxBox or another DOS emulator and i will run ok
one of the worst racing games ever. even for it's time. while the graphics are bad, they would have been acceptable if the control of the car was good. it's not. the cars are literally impossible to drive properly.
I used to play this game during the beginning of 90s. Glad to see it back and download it to my Intel core 2 duo. but when I try it's totally couldn't be driven. LOL
the car is running very fast that I cannot control it. so after I try it I decided to delete it. LOL
It's true the graphics let a little down..... but I played with my friends during hours and hours. Sometimes, overnights.
Back at that time, it was magic, and that's how it is to me.
Have fun.
This game is bad. It was promising, but it's barely playable on any PC of any era, the in-game graphics is very ugly, the music is annoying, and it's full of bugs. I bet it could have been waaaay better if it was developed by DSI, like Grand Prix Circuit.
