I bought the game on C64 cassette version. Myself had no idea on what to do at first. A friend also had the game, the instructions was in German. And so was he. He gave me a game run. Got All the way to Rift 20, the way is knowledge of the technology found in the Hulk's you plundered, shield, circle with a dot. Radar, down arrow. Weapon , gun... Etc. To my surprise I got there. Key is knowing what to keep, sell or scrap. Radar's are key to get Specialist Hulk's loot. Only use in that Rift. Be careful on Rift 13... 🐸

I relate to Kevo's comment below. I had this on the C64 and loved playing it, exploring, but I had absolutely no idea what I was doing or what I needed to do.

I played this for quite some time on my Atari 800XL. It was so ahead of its time. Also recommend Rescue on Fractalus and the Eidolon.
