Rise of The Dragon

DOS - 1990
Also released on: Amiga - Mac

Dynamix's first adventure game, Rise of The Dragon is one of the most atmospheric graphical adventures ever made and Jeff Tunnell's masterpiece.

As futuristic private eye and ex-cop Blade Hunter hired investigate the death of the mayor's daughter in Los Angeles circa 2004 AD, you soon find yourself embroiled in a wide-scale drug ring and an ancient Chinese prophecy. The game's atmospheric graphics and comic-book style cutscenes that advance the storyline greatly enhance gameplay, which is a good blend of traditional use-inventory-item elements and excellent arcade sequences that would merit a game on their own. Adventure gamers who despise action sequences in adventure games will be pleased to know that Rise of The Dragon will automatically let you win the sequences if you die one too many times.

One of the game's many original concepts is the use of non-linear plot, with many optional puzzles and subplots that allow multiple endings. This makes the game highly replayable for those who want to take a different route to see a different ending. The game also has realistic characters that DO remember your actions and respond appropriately (hint: don't cross your girlfriend). Puzzles are, for the most part, easy, except for some frustrating hunt-the-pixel and time constraints.

Overall, Rise of the Dragon is a must-play for every adventure fan. Even the death scenes are so well done that I remember trying different ways to die just to see them all . Two thumbs up!

A solid point and click cyber-punk game, while the DOS is probably best version to play. I personally prefer the Sega CD version thanks to it's cd quality music and voice acting, but the graphics took a slight down turn. there's no going around it as much it's a really good game it will be compared unfavorably to another classic cyberpunk point-and-click game "Snatcher" which is the better game. But still "Rise of the Dragon" is worth a look.

I played this on the Amiga 2000 back in the day. Still got the Amiga and the game disk.
Wonder if it still works.

I think I first played this on sega cd years ago, I enjoyed it.
ok to get this working you need DOSBOX if you don't already have it.
extract file by right-clicking(WinRAR) choose extract file.
then the extracted folder will have six or seven more rar files to extract
so select all of them then right-click and select extract fileS, now you should
be able to open the dragon application using dosbox, good luck!

I've been looking for this game for years, but alas was too young when I played it and could never remember the title; I almost skipped over it while browsing the site, but it tickled my memory just enough to check it out. Today, I am a happy man.
