Seek and Destroy

DOS - 1996
Also available on: Amiga - Amiga CD32

Safari's last game before fading into obscurity is an excellent and novel shooter that "features a smooth 360 degree battlefield, tons of action, multiple weapon upgrades and configurations, beautiful explosions and mass destruction. Your enemies include fixed gun emplacements, tanks, infantry, and choppers, all of which have different classes of intelligence.

There are many different structures to destroy, many of which hide valuable power-ups. There is also a wide range of weapons for you to wreck havoc with, including rockets, various kinds of missiles, air strikes, chaingun, napalm, and several "special" weapons that are wonderful surprises when you discover them. You will execute strategic missions against the enemy in either a tank or helicopter."

It's a great all-around game despite awkward controls and some very difficult end-level bosses. If you are looking for a good old-fashioned top-down shooting fun, you can't go wrong with Seek & Destroy. Highly recommended!

Default DOSBox settings for the SoundBlaster are SBBASE=220, IRQ=7, (low) DMA=1, (high) HDMA=5. Once you set those in the SETUP in the soundcard config, you'll be right to go.

DUDE! I remembered this game and was hoping to find a working version and I sure did!
DOS-BOX to the rescue!
The nostalgia was real, when I realized I remember all the DOS commands haha. I love it so much!
This may help others. I usually select soundblaster, IRQ 7 and port220, DMA 0, 12khz (this was my config that ALWAYS worked back in the day)

Running setup and changing the IRQ to 7 got the game running for me.

Seems for me at least the sound wont work, no matter what card I select. The game keeps failing to start and gives an IRQ issue which won't resolve no matter the IRQ setting. I am using the latest DOS Box

A forgotten epic. The graphic, gameplay mechanisms...all way better than expectation of 1993's PC game-making. It's even appealing nowadays for a game this small.
