How to Play

Notes:

• The American Girls Dress Designer installs and runs on modern operating systems, but a bug within the game's code causes it to crash on Windows NT 4.0 onwards (this includes consumer operating systems based upon NT, such as XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8.x, 10 and 11). This can however be fixed with an unofficial Crash Fix (another download is also here). To use it simply run the exe-file of the fix and enter the path to the game folder
• The game requires QuickTime 4 or newer for the correct work, the installer is available on the disc. If you have the stutters of audio or video, install QuickTime Lite 4.1.0 instead of QuickTime from the disc, it will fix the stutters problem. QuickTime Lite 4.1.0 installs and works on modern systems, tested on Windows 10 64-bit
• The game works on Direct3D 7, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
• The game has a simple disc check, if you want to play the game without the disc, do the next: go to the folder with installed game, open Dress Designer.ini in Notepad, set cdpath=Bundles, save the changes in Dress Designer.ini and copy Bundles folder from the disc into the folder with installed game
• The game works only in 640x480 resolution and runs in the center of display. If you want to run it in Windowed mode, open Dress Designer.ini in the game folder and set fsenabled=0. If you want to scale the game window to Full screen, you can use utilites like Loseless Scaling
• Repack variant already includes the game with that fix and QuickTime Lite 4.1.0, you can simply install & play. Your antivirus may trigger on repack file because the installer showed few generic warnings but the file is safe to use, nothing to worry about
