Sega released the Mega-CD in Japan in 1991 and the Sega CD in North America in 1992, a CD-ROM add-on that bolted onto the Genesis for bigger games and CD music.
Its library featured Sonic CD, the Lunar role-playing games and a wave of full-motion-video titles such as Night Trap.
Emulators such as Genesis Plus GX run the Sega CD library on modern systems.
