3D Movie Maker (commonly shortened to 3DMM) is a children's computer program developed by Microsoft Home's Microsoft Kids subsidiary in 1995. Using the program, users can make simple films by placing 3D characters and props into pre-rendered environments/backgrounds, as well as adding actions, sound effects, music, text, speech and special effects. Movies are then saved in the .3mm file format.
The biggest fan-community of 3D Movie Maker, 3Dmm Studio, still works, even though it wasn't updated since 2005. Visit it to find useful tools and archive of user-created movies.
In May 2022, Microsoft published original source code of the program, which can be obtained on GitHub or Archive.org

"I'm the giant rat that makes all of the rules"...
every time i try to run this, it says i either have no memory or a full hard drive. i have opened it with nothing else open, and i have 30gb free on my drive. can anyone help?
Rats rats we're da rats
Got 3D movie maker installed (mounted the MDF file with WinCDEmu) on Windows 11 which I wasn't expecting. Had troubles saving movies to the default folder, but they saved fine to c:\temp\ instead (maybe the other path was too long).
But it runs in 640x480.
Hopefully 3DMMForever or 3DMMPlus helps to preserve it and the movies created in it

Rats, rats, we're the rats
