Looks like this game will be re-releasing in a game called Barbie Rewind! I found it on Steam (not available until November 2026), it has house design elements but also has an old collection of 16 Barbie games to play including Pet Rescue!

As of 3/7/2026, this won't even install via a CD-ROM. Yes, I still have my old original disc and a laptop with a disc drive. It will not install with the disc or not, and from the sounds of it, if someone is able to get the game to install, it's unplayable. I miss this game, it was always one of my favorites. :(

It's still green and purple as of 2026. Unplayable, and the aspect ratio is completely off.

The Setup EXE file doesn't work for me nor does the PR (pet rescue) EXE file. I am using windows 11. These are the messages when trying to use the PR.exe file: Barbie(R) Pet Rescue "Installation error! Please reinstall the program from the CD." "Please insert the CDROM and press OK, or press Cancel to quit." "This program will run best in 16-bit color. Please adjust your display settings before running the program." and then after those popups, it just doesn't work.
i cant get this to install. I click it and my cursor spins but nothing actually happens

I was able to get this game to run decently (correct colors, no crash upon scooter) by running it in a Windows 98 VirtualBox VM.

I know what you're talking about, it has happened to some other games too, I think it only happens when you exit out of the game/minimize it and re-enter it. No idea why they do this but they do apparently.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, whenever I try to load the game the aspect ratio is messed up and the screen only displays green and purple. Is this just a problem on my end or is the download just like this?
