Chao Escape Remade

Windows - 2004

Story: One day Sonic was taking care of his Chao, When suddenly out of nowhere, Eggman poped up. He aimed a beam at Sonic and then Sonic fell to the ground unconscious. Eggman's beam all of a sudden beamed up many evil clones of Sonic. The clones started chasing Sonic's Chao and finally caught him and brought him to Eggman. Eggman took the Chao to his base and put him in a small cage and left. Sonic's Chao saw some evil Sonic clones guarding him. Eggman thought that Sonic's Chao friend would be to dumb to know how to get out of a cage with no lock. So the Sonic's Chao pushed the cage door open and started walking around in the dungeon halls to find a way out.

How to Play:Move the chao throughout the levels and look for the Chaos Emerald which will bring you to the next level.

This was always an interesting decision on the part of SEGA to me; it was a brave new venture into the world of top-down adventure games, giving a new, faster perspective on the genre as a whole, but it was also their first foray at all in this market, and they were putting their flagship IP into the core presentation of this title.
Clearly, they were confident in their decisions, and it definitely shows. Running at a buttery 60 frames per second, well beyond the capabilities of Windows XP devices at the time and certainly beyond the reach of the Dreamcast, they truly put their best minds together on this project in order to dazzle the market and show their fans a brand new genre in the best light possible.
I hesitate to explain the rest of the features of this experience, for to do so would be to spoil you on a truly amazing narrative and interactive journey; I can only express my deepest reverence for the expert GameMakers at SEGA.
