So, I add downloaded the game on July 31 and I've been enjoying the game since, but today when I tried to open the game it gave me enter the CD error. What can I do ?

What is the best way to stream this full screen on Streamlabs? Do I need to use Screen, Window, or Game Capture?

The game closes randomly; I need help.

Schneipi's instructions worked on my Mac up until the point I tried to save my game. Then the game froze and the only way out was Cmd+Opt+Esc. So it works for a time, but you can't save your progress. :(

theres no files i can open up with daemon tool in the zoo tycoon folder. it wont let me open anything up with it. this is so irritating i just want to play the game and of course i cant find any help on it. i guess i just wont play.

I tried "IPLAYEDZOOTYCOONASAKID"'s method for Mac. Installed and played well for a few hours. Tried to boot up again a couple of hours later and it no longer works. Screen just flashes when you click the icon. I reinstalled and it works fine again, but progress is lost. Anyone have a fix so I don't lose progress again? Or is there a way to access save files for when it happens again? Cheers!

I followed other people's advice, and the game worked like a charm for a week or so. All of a sudden, it refuses to start, instead demanding the disc be loaded. I tried redownloading everything including the NOCD add-on, and while it worked I lost all my progress as a result. Any tips for how to prevent this from happening again?

Does an Serbian lang.dll file exist for this game? There's an Hungarian version that I saw in an website, but I've never seen a Serbian version.

Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection ISO download only contains XOO_TYCOON and MARINA. Does anyone know where to get Dinosaur Digs?

Oh I'm so sad! I downloaded just Zoo Tycoon about 3 weeks ago and after playing without any problems for about a week (then got stuck on the Saving the Cats one!), I kept getting the 'Enter CD' error pop up when I tried to launch. I had already copied over the NoCD file from downloads and put into the Zoo Tycoon file but this error message came from nowhere. Then tried to 'reinstall' but again asked me for the CD.

I then downloaded the Marine mania ISO and this seemed to fix the issue (however my completed levels all reset so I had to start again). Now, again, about a week after playing, Im getting the error message again!

Im not sure what I am doing wrong. I really don't want to start allover again, just for it to happen again. and again.

Any ideas?

The noCD file seems to be broken for me, so I am just not going to use it. For anybody who is saying they only downloaded the base game, check the previous comments. You have to download marina after you download the main game.

Hi so I downloaded the cd collection which includes zoo and marine i tried opening it suing daemon tools but it still says insert the cd could someone tell me what i can do to make the game work I'm really confused.

I have had PC issues recently, whereby I have had to reinstall Windows a couple of times, both before and after the first reinstall, I was able to download, install and run the game with no issues, but upon the second reinstall, I can't get it to run now, did everything the same as before, but for some reason it just doesn't want to run now, upon starting the game, the game's icon appears on the taskbar, cursor is invisible and nothing appears on screen, only the desktop, after about 15 seconds, the icon disappears from the taskbar, seemingly unable to run the game.
I have tried reinstalling the game, uninstalling and installing, but to no avail, and I am not sure what could be different now to cause it to not work, I mean I have two SSD's now instead of one, but the game is only installed on the main drive, so beats me what could be wrong with it, would be a shame to not be able to play it, as I have been before any the second WIndows reinstall, if anyone knows, would be helpful, thanks.

Downloaded this on Sequoia Mac and it fails to register this as a real file. It has no idea what it is- there are no files within the package other than the read me and the app (which doesn't work).

I ran my game through Proton runner in Wine on Fedora Linux. I ran into an issue where the image was stuck in the top left corner and I couldn't center it no matter what I tried.

What ended up fixing it for me was going to the zoo.ini file and modifying the screen width and height values to match my monitor. Not only did it center the game but also it now fills up the entire screen as well in widescreen with no noticeable stretching, which is a suprise as other games from this Era I've installed typically need a widescreen patch.

TLDR: If game is displaying small and uncentered go to zoo.ini and modify the values to match your display resolution.

So I tried getting this game to work, tried just about every troubleshooting method out there atm and no matter what I do, it just keeps crashing. Zoom out when the resolution's set to 2K in the ini file, crash. Keep the resolution either at 800x600 or increase it to 1080p and click the turn buttons enough times, crash. Keep the default resolution, start a new scenario and add a couple giraffes, crash.

I'm confused as to what's causing the crashing and I'm on Windows 11. I'd really like some help with this.

i was able to follow ivoryowl's guide without any issue, got the game to run easily. the problem is that is doesn't *stay* running for very long. it crashes after about two minutes every time i open it, but it does allow me to save and re-open the same game. anyone else run into this and find a fix?

Hello, i got an error message which is "Setup was unable to find (or could not read) the language specific setup resource dll, unable to continue. Please reboot and try again." when i try to open setup in the main games's iso. Eventhough I reinstall the game, I still got that message. I couldn't find any solution regarding this problem. Is there anyone who help me please?

Having similar trouble with Mac (Sonoma 14.5). Terminal rejected the command (see below), and when trying to run, it still says the app is damaged.

Can anyone run the mac version on Apple Silicon?

I can get the game to open with the commented instructions, but all text is missing. The highlight-on-hover over a clickable is always a narrow vertical line that takes up the whole screen. If I manage to open a map by clicking on random buttons, as soon as I click on an animal the game crashes.

This is OS Sonoma.

Has anyone been able to successfully run this on a mac? I've tried the work arounds suggested in the comments, but can't solve the "app is damaged" issue.

I am NOT a tech savvy person, so the following is for anyone that is like me and had issues: Game worked great until I restarted computer for an update (win 11). Tried everything people were suggesting to fix the "no CD" issue but still didn't work.

If you've tried everything suggested and still had no luck, I figured out that I needed to launch Daemon itself, and then I had to "run" both zoo_tycn.iso and marina.iso. Then I double-clicked to run marina.iso, since it's the "updated" version of zoo tycoon, and then it FINALLY worked. So basically Daemon works as a "pretend" CD Drive, but you have to actually make sure the "CDs" are active in it.

The closest this download got me to reliving my childhood was the download process making me as actively suicidal as I was in middle school.

This is quite the game for a nostalgia trip. Its pretty fun once you get the hang of it too.

@Kenzilla I had the same problem! I opened the zoo.ini file (or zoodemo.ini, if you needed to rename the .exe to zoodemo) and changed the "Fullscreen=" value (it will probably say "1" and if so, change it to "0" or vice-versa). This appears to be a pretty well-known issue and was fairly easy to find the fix for in several places online (related: changing the screen resolution for modern screens; that setting is near this one in the .ini file). If you're worried about causing problems and not wanting to entirely reinstall, back up the original .ini file somewhere else before doing this in case you need to copy it back into the program file and start over.

NOW, if I could only figure out how to make Dino Digs work!! Anyone have this issue, and more importantly, figure out how to fix it?? The Marine Mania part works just fine after installing the MARINA.iso disc, and everything I'm seeing says it's supposed to include the Dino Digs expansion as well (it even shows the Dino Digs logo on the loading screen), but the only Dino Digs-related content available in-game is all the DLC and cheat content that was added into the download files separately, not any of the content that comes stock in the Dino Digs expansion—and the Dino Digs selection isn't even available in the drop-down on the menu panels, so it's literally like the Dino Digs part didn't "install" at all. If this is irretrievably broken and can't be "installed," would it work if I just had the .ztd/etc. files and just put them into the program folders? Any known place to get these files if so?

I've been unable so far to find documentation of this problem or a fix for such, and my google fu is pretty strong. This is the most important part of the game for me and the reason I missed it so much and came here for it in the first place (had an original ZTCC copy that started getting scratched and then suspiciously disappeared around the same time as an ex), so it's disappointing to myself and my kids who all grew up playing it as well that I've worked so hard to get this all working...only to still have that portion missing. TIA for any help!!

I followed all the steps listed in previous comments but the game still doesn't seem to be running for me. I changed to compatibility mode, copied the NO-CD file into the games file location. It will pop up for a split second to start loading and then disappears. Any help would be greatly appreciated since this is my first time doing something like this.

You may have to run under compatibility mode. Right click on the application and click properties. You should see compatibility,

I am in-experienced in emulating games. How I got this to work.
FIRST DOWNLOAD THE1.0 GB game *****AND**** the 1 MB NOCD file
1. Download the game and get to the files location. Open Zoo_Tycn (ISO) ((I have a mounter that opens the game.) *WinCDEmu*This will prompt you to install the game. Do so.
2. Once game is installed and you have to fine the "nocd file" downloaded. Go to the no cd file and find the "application file" if you don't see it then maybe you need to extract the file I use "BreeZip"
3. One you locate the "application in no-cd file" right click and copy.
4. Go to your documents and downloads main screen and find "This PC" you will then go to "Windows C" -Program Files (x86) -Microsoft games double click and paste the NOCD File in place of the application here.
Runs PERFECTLY.

Hey there, I successfully was able to download and install Zoo Tycoon, however I can't figure out how to get the expansions to work. Marine Mania opens and allows me the option to install but it doesn't go further than the "Initializing Setup engine" screen. If anyone has a suggestion, please drop it below. Very much appreciated!

I cant make it work! I tried Ivoryowl's and Admiral Moos advice and it just wont start. I can instal the game, did the NoCD thing, and then as I press play, the loading screen will appear and dissappear seconds after.

I have tried for years playing again, maybe its my old laptop, I dont know :(

IVORYOWL's advice still stands. I use a program called "ISObuster" to extract all the files from the disc then you can start the setup, base game first, then Marine. Then as suggested, use No CD to replace the app icon in the program folder. Job done.

Has anyone else had trouble with getting their screen scale back to normal after downloading and playing this? I downloaded it and opened it, and then had Genshin impact open at the same time, and now I can’t get the resolution or scale back to normal on my Genshin game :/

I used the recommended code for terminal and it tells me "no such file or directory" any one able to double check exactly how to add to terminal.

I am not able to run the base game in Windows 11 (Pro) and not even able to install the extension. The base game interrupts during fist loading screen without further notice. The extension stuck at "Initialising Setup engine" step. I tried all mentioned instructions, but nothing brings me further than this step. Does anyone has a solution? Thank you in advance.

Honestly, I wish we could just get this on GOG so that we don't have to deal with all the nonsense troubleshooting.

In the mac version, I have noticed the maintenance workers don't do anything (no cleaning trash, no fixing fences etc).

I have downloaded the game and it comes on, but it is zoomed into the top right of the screen so I cannot get to the settings to change the resolution. Is there anything I can do about this or is it a lost cause?

Regarding PLS HELP's comment about Zoo Tycoon not starting; I experienced the same.
Have a Laptop with Windows 11 and installed the game according to IVORY OWL steps. Installation went perfect, without a hitch.
But when trying to start up the game, the game seemed to open the icon and go to full screen, but then immediately shuts down (without a further error message).

What worked for me was changing the fullscreen settings in the zoo.ini file. This file is located in Zoo Tycoon's game folder. Open the file, search for "fullscreen". It should say fullscreen=1 . Change the 1 to 0 and save the file. You should now be able to run the game (at least I was!).
