Corridor 7: Alien Invasion

DOS - 1994

Capstone once again rose (sank?) to their notoriety as one of the worst game developers in history with this awful Wolfenstein 3D clone.

Even id Software's celebrated Wolf 3D engine can't save Corridor 7 from being a very poor clone that looks even worse than Wolfenstein 3D, the predecessor of DOOM. Just about everything that could possibly go wrong in a 3D shooter does go wrong in Corridor 7 -- terrible graphics, boring levels, and extremely monotonous gameplay that forces you to shoot ugly, heavily pixellated aliens over and over again.

A Real Dog, without any redeeming quality that makes it worth your while. Really NOT recommended, unless you are masochistic, that is ;)

This is the notorious Capstone's first FPS game, and somehow, it's not their worst, but generally, it's still a pretty meh Wolf3D clone that has nothing on Blake Stone or Rise of The Triad or hell, even Wolf3D itself.

PS If the game runs like absolute crap on DOSBox, go to your DOSBox configuration file, look for 'cycles=auto' and set it to 'cycles=max'. I guess that just tells how much did Capstone spend time optimizing this game, especially when taking '90's hardware into mind.

If this game ran at 24 FPS instead of 10-12 I'd play it a lot more

Was amazing that late mod of Blake Stone (sold from Apogee to Capstone Software)
in 1994 we were at least at DOOM 2 :D maybe was a waste as investment
but was an ez way to modding since the engine was already done missed the sprites and plot so on...

I still remember randomly getting this game years ago, around the time when PC's were just getting started with Quake 3 Arena, brand new in box, it's original, huge, cardboard box. Really wishing I still had that somewhere, no idea where it went, but I remember doing everything I could to install this game, getting it to work, and playing the damn thing the whole way through, despite there being better games to play. Yeah, it certainly may not be on par with games the likes of Doom/Quake, or CoD, or modern games... but that didn't stop me from being drawn into the fight to clear out Corridor 7 and take back the base from those invading freaks!

Heya, cool. I remember this for sure. Not as good as Doom but it was OK nonetheless.

Is this the floppy or CD version? The only thing that really matters between the two to me is that the CD version allowed you to go to 10 extra levels after the final boss if you want to.
