This setup doesn't work properly

Beware: The ISO version will uninstall Ford Racing 3 (if installed). This happened to me under Windows XP. Luckily I had a backup ;-)

Finally got the music to work after a hour, here's what I did:

(BTW run everything as administrator and know the risks associated yada yada)
Before anything you need to restore the 'windows media source filter' so to do that go to the pcgamingwiki and go to the page for this game. Scroll down until you see the link for it and follow the instructions there, for me I did it both automically and manually just to make sure it got installed and registered. I also didn't have to do anything with the qasf.dll so don't bother with that unless you need to.

Firstly you need an unpatched version so you can't use the repack by Bladez unfortunately (everything else still works perfectly, just no music so if this fails for you that's your second best option). Install the 178MB ISO version, mount it and try to install it with the setup.exe. From here several things can go wrong, if nothing happens then that means you need to uninstall Ford Racing 3 (just back up your save and resintall it later) or delete the default installation folder. After that the installation worked properly for me for the first time but since I was experimenting with fixes I had to reinstall and came across a dirdraw error and couldn't install it again so what I did was go into the directx folders, install those and then install the game using the setup.exe in the 'is' folder.

Make sure you install the game anywhere but the default installation location this is important because otherwise you can't modify the files. Lastly install the nocd exe from here and replace the files and it should work.

I always get an error to install directx 8.1b, but that installation always fails. FR3 starts right up, but i cant get FR2 to work

The file marked as "DRM Free" (170 MB) is for the Polish version.

But the Czech version (ISO Version, 191 MB) is DRM Free too.

The included music patch does not work on Windows 10. No viruses detected in the ISO by Windows Defender or Malwarebytes.

Windows 10 (x64) skip the autorun & install the game by running setup.exe from the CD. Note if you have Ford Racing 3 installed, it will not install and will try and remove it. Move your Ford racing 3 folder somewhere else first and then put it back afterwards (note it is also necessary if you try to install Ford Raving 3 when FR2 is installed, to temporarily move the FR2 folder).

Once the game is installed go here https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Ford_Racing_2 then download “windows-media-source-filter-installer 1.7” and follow the “manual” installation instructions! The game will then run with full sound. No compatibility mode is needed. Also wide screen fixes aren’t required. The game supports many resolutions

My AV found a trojan - not sure if its safe to use... can anyone pls check that?
