How to Play
NoCD showed few generic warnings on VirusTotal, it is safe to use, here's the scan report. All warnings are generic, about suspicious/unsafe file, nothing to worry about. Your antivirus may trigger on NoCD file (it is also in TiNYiSO folder inside ISO images), just add the file to antivirus exclusions if your antivirus blocks it
The game with NoCD has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11, it works fine. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Guide and Notes for details
Install & play guide:
- First install the Episodes 1-3, then Episodes 4-7. If ISO images doesn't work with built-in Windows tool for ISO images, use disc image utility, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite, etc. Or extract the files from ISO images with WinRAR or similar tool
- It is recommended to install the game not in default path, but in some other, non-system folder, like
C:/Games/Law and Order - Legacies, so you won't have troubles with NoCD - After you installed the game - install NoCD, simply copy LawAndOrder101.exe from the archive and put it into game folder, agree to replace the original file
- Launch the game and play. If the game doesn't work - try to launch it in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, etc.) and as administrator
Notes:
- If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
- It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
- The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
- The game has support for three languages: English, French & German, you can switch the language in settings. The audio is English-only, so don't forget to enable subtitles if you play on different language
- If you have problem with broken sound effects or cracking/disappearing sound - first try to change the sound settings. If it didn't work - set sound quality to 24 bit, 48000 Hz or 24 bit, 44100 Hz. Read this guide how to do that

English version of the game Tested on Windows 10.
Out of the box game showed just a blank white screen.
Used dgVoodoo and Win7 compatibility mode to fix.
Game is playable with some graphical glitches below:
- Transcript shows up as a completely black box so is unusable.
This means one has to rely on ones memory to answer the quizzes.
- Navigation buttons such as the ones on the episode select and clue spotting mini game, show up as black boxes.

I'm a big fan of the original TV series, and this game is the next best thing.
The stories are well told and follow the same style and narrative of the TV series, and each episode starts with the iconic theme song. The voice actors are not from the original cast, but they honestly did such a good job to embody the original characters that you would be hard-pressed to notice otherwise.
Each episode starts with the investigation, where you direct the detectives to search crime scenes for clues, interview witnesses and arrest suspects. After that you direct the councilors as they prosecute the accused, performing follow-up interviews and questioning witnesses and the suspect in court. An aspect of the courtroom is objecting to the defense's questions when they are leading or badgering the witness, or asking irrelevant questions.
If you're a L&O fan you owe it to yourself to try this game, there's a good chance you will enjoy it!
Note: Enabling subtitles in the game options will display a transcript button at the top of the screen, which is very useful if you missed a line of dialogue or just want to review what was said.
