Just installed this including the translation patch. Works fine immediately on Windows 8 at least.
One odd thing to be aware of with some menu controls, though: Despite the game being generally mouse-controllable, some menu selections unexpectedly just don't respond to mouse clicks at all. Most notably across the entire options menu. You switch through the option types with the mouse, you can't change the displayed settings immediately with it, but have to press Enter first to activate the setting. I thought something was broken at first, but it's not. It's just weirdly made. There was also some some later other "yes/no" type dialog choice that responded only to keyboard. So if you run into something that unexpectedly doesn't respond to a mouse click, just use the keyboard for a moment and it should work fine.
