How to Play
Windows
Install & play guide (for ISO version):
- Before installing the game - download and install Nvidia PhysX Legacy Drivers, even if you have AMD videocard. The game uses PhysX engine and will not work without installed PhysX
- Mount the .ISO disc image. You will need the utility for mounting disc image files, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 102% or Daemon Tools Lite
- As alternative - you can extract files from .ISO image if you have installed WinRAR. Right click on .ISO file -> Extract files. After that just launch the installation with Setup.exe
- Install the game
- Install the patches
- Optionally install NoDVD
- Launch the game and play. If the game doesn't run - open the directory with the game and find darkestofdays.exe. Right click on darkestofdays.exe - Properties - Compatibility - Set "Run this app in compatibility mode with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7"
Repack installs automatically, all patches and PhysX installer are included.
The game has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 10, works fine. The game supports widescreen and ultra-widescreen resolutions
Mac
Archive includes a cracked version 1.0.5 of the game. We have not uploaded the patch 1.0.6 for Mac version because it cannot be used with the cracked v. 1.0.5. Visit MacintoshGarden page of the game for more details about Mac version.

Not sure why Danielito was downvoted. Its a known fact. I own the steam version and its simply not made for AMD. Its an incompatibility.
This was one of my favorite games from 2009. I played it to distraction, loved the Little Big Horn scenario, though it was a little short. Fighting against the rebels during the civil war was mind blowing. This was the first game where you fought against a whole troop of soldiers at the same time. The graphic at the time was outstanding, and still hold well today.
I'd not played it in over a decade, and have just reinstalled it on my Steam account. Looking forwards to dipping into it again.
Repack seems to run fine on Linux with GE-Proton9-27

you can mow down shitloads of confederate soldiers with a lock-on AR.
If you have an AMD RX card don´t even try, you will get a black screen and there´s no fix for that.

i'm confused pls tell me the repacks works or not on win 10...i don't want to waste time downloading this....
Everything runs fine except the Xbox controller support. No matter what I try doing, as soon as I start a mission, the game disables my controller. I tried changed the xbox controller input in the cfg file from 0 to 1, but that didn't work. The controller works fine in the menus. Its just when I start the game, it gets disabled for some ungodly reason. I can't play mouse/keyboard so it basically ruins my chance of playing it. If anyone knows a work around please share. Im playing in Windows 10.

RG Mechanics repack pack is corrupted, setup returns unarc.dll error -12 , DO NOT waste your time with this crap
The RG Mechanics file can be played on Linux Manjaro GNOME + AMD without any problems. I am using an Asus K45DR Laptop with 16GB of DDR3L RAM. Thank you
For those seeing it display in German after installing the NoDVD patch:
1: Click on "Einstellungen"
2: Change the option that says "Deutsch" to "English" (or whatever other language you want)
3: Restart the game
Why is mine displaying German? I need English.
If you have installed it and installed the PhysX files but you get a black screen, go to the files and right click the EXE, go to properties and run in Windows 7 Compatibility, and run PhysX on low in game. Done.

playing the game again is so fun but the 2nd ww1 mission when you get the smart rocket launcher the rockets go up but never come back down

Apparently it's just not possible to get this to work on a newer machine with a newer AMD video card. Damn! I bought this game a while ago when it came out but my PC was too crappy to play it. Now that I live in the future I thought I'd finally give it a shot!
If you have a newer AMD video card, it probably won't run on your system. Black screen whenever you try to load a mission. The problem is AMD's shitty OpenGL support in their Windows drivers and NOT PhysX (assuming you installed the included redist).
There's a handful of OpenGL wrappers out there, however I could only get Mesa3D to work. And that one translates to software rendering which is of course way to slow for Darkest of Days unfortunately!

For everyone having a black screen when playing the game (because you have a AMD card), that easy:
You only need to change the graphic card you choose for the game ( you can choose your CPU )
-setting/display/graphic setting
And then change to low performance and this should work well.
Works great on Win 10 (played the repack version). Also surprinsingly good. This game is infamous for getting bad scores, like a 5 from Gamespot and IGN, and a 2 from Destructoid. I don't know what those people were smoking, but this is, at worst, a 7. It's very fun, has large levels, some cool set pieces, a few interesting mechanics (active reload, non-lethal grenades to avoid killing certain people in history), some interesting futuristic weapons, fun shooting, a decent length and sufficient variety. It's a shame they didn't include a multiplayer mode, as battling with your chums on historical maps, with historical or futuristic weapons (or both) would have been a lot of fun, but this itself is not enough to fault the game.
If you are a FPS fan, this game deserves a try.

yeah I was actually waiting for it to go on sale... then I was pretty bummed out to see it suddenly disappear
apparently it was delisted because the publisher closed doors and there was no company left to manage the sales, yet somehow the developers are still around under a different name, but doing some sort of 3D modeling software or something like that
I set the game to windowed mode and, for some reason, the mouse is completely unresponsive in game.
How do I fix it?
