Universe

DOS - 1994
Also available on: Amiga - Amiga CD32

Universe is a decent sci-fi adventure that features some interesting gadget-oriented puzzles, although the banal plot and bad writing sink the game to obscurity.

Nevertheless, Core Design's second effort in the adventure genre is a better game in every respect than the awful Curse of Enchantia. The interface is also rather awkward, so only those with a lot of patience will go through this long journey through different sparsely-populated planets. It is no wonder why Core never tried their hands at writing another adventure game. Given how popular Tomb Raider has become, they have certainly found their true calling .

I think this is my all-time favourite adventure game. The graphics, atmosphere, soundtrack are amazing, the story is great (cliche but nice) and the gameplay is fine (only minor problems). I really wish someone will remake it (not in the cartoon way Lucas Adventure Games were remade though). Still, I'm playing this one every now and then when I don't have any new adventure game to play. 5/5 from me!

I wrote the PC version. I can't say converted, as it was a big job to try and get the scenes etc loading and working - lots of original code. Apart from the fact - this was changing all the time, I did enjoy wrting it - and I'm amazed people still play it!
Slightly biased but this version was better than the Amiga, coz! :-)

An underrated game and now slightly forgotten. If you get this play the DOS version, it's much better than the Amiga version (faster, better sound and more colors).

This game was something special for amiga users. it was the first (and only) one using 256 colours on ANY Amiga - even on a simple A500.
