Air Bucks

DOS - 1992
Also available on: Amiga - Atari ST

Airs Bucks, one of the first airline company simulation game. The game doesn't push too far on the financial aspect, Impression wanted to keep a fun factor in it. The game is more about created great planes with seat tweaks, changing food quality or adding radio to seats.

The main problem is the difficulty to win a game : you start in the same city as the computer's companies and the financial model is somewhat flawed. The computer manages to take over the world really fast and the ways of the game are really hard to discover.

So basically it's like this. Everyone that uses Windows can do this. Go to the bottom of this page and click on How to play. Then on that page scroll down past For Every Operating System and click on the link that says Dosbox-x and read on the left side the choices for your windows system, click on that and then download the DOSBOX for your particular System. When you have that then it'll show up on your desktop. Next you download the zip for the game here and open the window where the zip is and drag it to the DOSBOX icon and PRESTO, INSTANT DOS GAME ON YOUR WINDOWS :-)

jesus christ people. My 5 year old self was using DOS in 1990. as long as you know this, C:\, .exe, dir, and Install you can work DOS. All windows is and ever will be is DOS with pictures. Windows basically made it to where the common person has no idea what they are really doing. Its just moving around pictures top different places. DOS made you learn about what you were doing. Seriously though people i was 5 and learned it by watching my dad play Police Quest and Sid Meirs Railroad tycoon, and Monkey Island. Guybrush Threepwood reference in the house.

"It doesn't work" No, it works, but you need to take the 5 minutes to learn DOS. This was the problem back in the day. People wanted to use computers, but didn't want to learn DOS. DOS was such a stable OS back in the day compared to windows. Things just worked. But, people need pictures and a stupid arrow to use a computer, they can't be bothered to learn a couple of simple DOS commands. And when you learn DOS, it's so easy to do things. For me anyway, I move through DOS like it's air. Me and windows are like oil and water.

I remember when windows 95 first came out, and I got it, installed it, and immediately was faced with a BSOD when all I did was put a CD in the CD-ROM drive. Or if you tried to connect a plug and play device, BSOD. So I uninstalled windows 95 and went back to DOS. Then realized at some point games for DOS would stop being made and everything would be windows only, unfortunately.

So if you can't get something to work in DOSBOX, first you need to learn DOS and understand how easy it works, then you'll understand how easy it is to run games, and configure the .conf file, and even make shortcuts to individual games, each with their own .conf files. But if you can't be bothered to take 5 minutes to learn 5 simple DOS commands to get started, you shouldn't even be trying in my opinion.

I have tried everything and nothing worked... then I got a very old computer and monitor in goodwill and I can play the game. It's amazing when you go back to such an old computer and realize how much technology has advanced

For anyone who has problems with Dosbox and/or just finds it difficult. Download and install a standalone frontend application like DosShell or similar. It's very easy to use, just add the Dos files and Dosshell does all the hard work, all you have to do is click on the icon and it will automatically start the dos game for you every time.

@KRIS Instead of blaming the site, why don't you learn how to use DOSbox. It runs fine for me in DOSbox. It will not run on modern computer architecture, and requires an emulated DOS environment... You don't just install DOSbox, and then try to run the game. Unzip the game, then drag and drop the folder that you unzipped the game to onto the DOSbox icon on your desktop. Then run the game within the emulated DOS window. If you don't know how to use DOS, then find and older geek and ask them, as I'm not going to go into that here.
