This particular game was first released on Console, under the name: Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2004 Season (2003), developed by Sand Grain Studios, then next year on PC, under the name: Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005 Adventures (2004), developed by Magic Wand Productions. These are the exact same games, with a one year gap in between. *** Therefore the Console version, under the name Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005 Adventures is totally different from the PC version, released by the same name in the same year! That one was released on PC under the name Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2006 Trophy Season. The importance is very big, since the BGH 2005 PC version was the last Big Game Hunter title, as the classic strict and unforgiving hunting simulator, and the BGH 2005 Console game is rather a quest based arcade shooter.

Still one of the best hunting games in existence. The linear gameplay has you moving between regions, updating your gear for the challenges ahead and rewarding preparation more than adaption. Each lodge has it's own stock of weapons and gear but there's no backtracking which means you can't buy everything, what you choose to buy matters and may force you to change strategies if you can't afford certain items. I wish more modern hunting games would take ques from this one. Sandbox games are nice but the linearity of this game makes it more enjoyable progression wise.
