It is important to make some clarification about this game, because the naming of the Console and PC versions are totally different. This particular game was first released to PS2/Xbox under the name: Cabela's Deer Hunt 2004 Season (2003), developed by Sand Grain Studios, and next year, the same game was implemented on PC under the name: Cabela's Deer Hunt 2005 Season (2004), developed by Magic Wand Productions. *** Therefore, the PS2/Xbox version, under the name: Cabela's Deer Hunt 2005 Season (2004), developed by Sand Grain Studios is not the same game!!! It was the final chapter of the Deer Hunt series.

This was an emblematic game of my childhood, so I decided to play it through as an adult, since now I understand what the game wants from me. Being able to play with it was not an easy start. First of all dgVoodoo is needed to run, since without it, the textures are missing. There is however a much bigger issue. The game instantly crashes upon exiting from tree stand/tripod/ground blind. I was using Chatgpt to help me by this issue. We needed to run it with DxWnd, to prevent instant crash. I tried everything, to stabilize it, but it was a fail. I made settings to limit fps and Hz, and disable exeptions, etc. The problem is that the game thinks exiting the blind as a fall, and instantly makes the character unconscious, like when you slide off a mountain. From like every 20-30 exits I tried, it was one kill, so this way the blind and stands are unpredictable, and not ssafe to use, if you don't want your game ruined randomly. I decided not to use them and competed the game on Easy. Medium and Hard seems to be impossible without the trophy beacon, I leave it to the most hardcore fans. The game itself is very strict, unforgiving, but extremely immersing and beautiful. I spent 3 nights completing it, trying every type of weapon. It was a lot of fun! There was some maps where wolves were a threat, and one time they attacked me, ending my game, so there is tension in the game too. I hope some day someone will make a patch, which eliminates this exit-crash issue. Thank you for making possible playing this game again!

Magipack has a version of this game with a no cd fix and graphics fix for anyone wondering, I believe the magipack collection is on the archive website. If you played deer hunt 2004 on Xbox or ps2 it’s that game, 2005 on ps2 and Xbox is different and better imo. Still a good game.

the game doesn't work properly because it was ported from console to pc. an activision-magic wand classic! after loading the iso file you will need to find a no cd fix, because you have to do this nonsense to even play a 20 year old game by these guys. but you are not done yet, just when you think everything is ready you will see that you have texture problems in the game. the settings don't work. as stated in pcgaming wiki i tried using voodoo and it didn't work either. in short activision-magic wand duo didn't surprise again...
